The effect of epidural resiniferatoxin in the neuropathic pain rat model randomized trial: a complementary mechanism.

چکیده
I read with great interest the paper by Lee et al titled "The Effect of Epidural Resiniferatoxin in the Neuropathic Pain Rat Model" (1). This work addressed that resiniferatoxin, which is a decoy receptor of transient receptor potential Vanilloid subtype 1, improved neuropathic pain. I would like to complete the discussion of Lee and colleagues by introducing a major complementary route which resiniferatoxin could reduce neuropathic pain. The essential role of neuropeptides in mediating neuropathic pain is evidenced by many works (2,3). Recent studies have shown that resiniferatoxin not only produces various antinociception factors, including

The effect of epidural resiniferatoxin in the neuropathic pain rat model.
BACKGROUND Resiniferatoxin (RTX) is a potent synthetic agonist for transient receptor potential vanilloid subtype 1 (TRPV1), which has a selectivity for antinociception. The analgesic effect of epidural RTX in a rat model of neuropathic pain has not yet been studied. OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to evaluate the analgesic effect of epidural RTX on neuropathic pain in a rat model to...
متن کاملAnalgesic Effect of a Single Dose of Adenosine for Neuropathic Pain Reduction in a Patient with Primitive Neuroechtodermal Tumor
Background: We report the analgesic efficacy of lumbar epidural adenosine injection in reducing the chronic neuropathic pain in a patient with primitive neuroectodermal tumor. Report of the Case: In this case report a 13-year-old male with primary neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) was administered in epidural space with adenosine to reduce his pain. The patient received 10ml of 0.25% ropivacaine ...
متن کاملThe effect of clonidine pretreatment on epidural resiniferatoxin in a neuropathic pain rat model.
Resiniferatoxin (RTX) is an ultrapotent synthetic TRPV1 (transient receptor potential vanilloid subtype 1) agonist with significant initial transient hyperalgesia followed by a prolonged analgesic effect in response to thermal stimulus. Using a rat model of neuropathic pain, we evaluated the effect of pretreatment with clonidine-which has been shown to relieve intradermal capsaicin-induced hype...
متن کاملEffect of acute caffeine administration on hyperalgesia and allodynia in a rat neuropathic pain model
Introduction: Damage to the central and peripheral nervous system causes neuropathic pain. Caffeine is a plant alkaloid and non-selective antagonist of A1, A2a and A2b adenosine receptors. It is reported that caffeine increases the threshold of pain. In this study, the effect of acute caffeine on behavioral responses of neuropathic pain was investigated. Materials and Methods: The present study...
متن کاملThe effect of chronic caffeine administration on hyperalgesia in a rat neuropathic pain model: role of nitric oxide pathway
Background: Neuropathic pain is a chronic pain caused by damage to the central nervous system and the peripheral. Caffeine is a non-selective antagonist of A1, A2a, receptors of adenosine, which has a protective effect on neuropathic pain in some doses by inhibiting A2a, A2b receptors. Considering that the nitric oxide (NO) levels are apparently effective in the parts of caffeine central effect...
